I'm a golfer that is on the cusp of shooting in the 80's on a consistant basis. Every little edge I can get I will take. I just bought this driver off of Ebay for less than $100 including shipping after reading all of the 52 or 53 previous reviews. In a nutshell I read how straight the driver was and some of you guys said it was the longest driver you ever hit, while some of you said it was the shortest. I knew that the 8.5 ET was the equivalent of a 10* driver. I knew my swingspeed being 100mph, that I needed a stiff shaft. All I can say is that it has been very wet here in the northeast so I can't tell you yet about the length, but the accuracy is unbelievable.

When I keep track of my score I regularly keep track of my GIR, Fairways hit, and putts. I've been using a Bertha Warbird for almost ten years because I didn't think that technology really made that much difference. With my old Big Bertha during my 2003 campaign I averaged 33% fairways. Admittedly I've been hitting straighter lately so maybe toward the end you might say 35%. I played 9 holes today with my "new" Ping driver and hit 5 out of 7 fairways...that's 71%. The two I didn't hit were kind of fluky. The first was on the first tee. I hadn't hit the club on a range so I hooked the ball into the trees. By the second tee I was dead on straight.
As a matter of fact, the second time I missed the fairway, it was the ninth hole. Remember after missing everything on the first hole I was in the middle third of the fairway most of the afternoon. On the ninth tee I wanted to see what would happen if I over cooked it a little. I was fading left, but it was a tight landing area and I still wasn't that far off.
Technology has made me a believer. When things dry out, I'll let you know what I think of the distance.
Final comments are that the large size head didn't bother me at all. The club itself feels light. After hitting a few in a row near the yardage sticks in the middle of the fairway, it automatically inspired confidence.
